Charity project

Back in high school, we all wanted to save up for a heifer, but never thought we could do it.

I say we can.

I'm setting up a poll in the sidebar so everyone can vote on what you all want to donate our charity money to this year.

There are four options:
+ a COW via Compassion - $215
"This one is udderly awesome! A cow is a valuable asset for a rural family as they provide milk to drink or sell and extra income when calves are born. This gift can help support income-generating activities like raising cows and also includes support and education to help families successfully raise and care for their animals."

+ a HEIFER via the Tear Fund - $300
"When fully grown, heifers plough fields and provide fertiliser, milk, and offspring to increase local herds. When the first female calf is weaned, it is given to another poor household to share the benefits across the community. (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Uganda)"

+ a CALF via Oxfam - $203
"A good set of calves always looks impressive, and these beautiful bovines are no exception. A calf can provide a family with milk, keep their land fertile with manure and when the calf grows to a cow and has a calf of its own, it can be passed on to another family."

+ OTHER
Leave comments if you have other ideas (in the comments section of this post, not in the tags).

You have until the 13th of March to vote.

Crossroads

This sunday (21/2) I'll be cooking dinner at church for everybody who wants to go to crossroads. It'll be ready by 5:30. Let's watch a movie at church or something this sunday, yeah?

Ladies, read Sherman's last post very carefully. Um... especially the bolded bit.

(Did I do it right, Sherman?)

Okay, so the tehillah email thing hates me so I'm doing this here.

As some of you may know, this coming sunday is both Chinese new year and a night where we can go to crossroads (HA! u guys thought I was going to say valentines day. I'm a single guy, why would I remember something like that?)

Seeing as CNY is usually a time where families get together and share a meal, I was wondering who is still planning on going to crossroads this sunday? (tell me in the comments)

Byebyes

Dot says I have to post something before I go to the land of the banned blogspot. So here you go. It's not like you haven't seen it before...

- -

Hey guys,

Drew tells me I'm weak if I get homesick, so I'm gonna be all manly and emotionless about the way I say this... maybe.

I'm gonna miss you guys so much but I think this year will be good for us - it'll give you an opportunity to grow without me and it'll definitely make me stop relying on you guys to cheer me up and energise me. We'll all have to rely on God so much more to show us even more of that grace that we experienced SO MUCH last year.

That said, please keep in touch!
MSN: Here.
Blog: http://chanyamana.wordpress.com/
Skype: look up 'vonbon' or 'viciousdurian'
But no Facebook!

Please pray for me (there's a prayer points page on the blog) but also, please send me stuff to pray for you too! I can't be there to hug you and feed you and care for you in general, but I can pray and I trust that God's always looking after you, no matter if I'm there or not. So send me EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. I'd love to pray for you.

Also, the Drew-voice in my head tells me to tell you to pray for your accountability groups too. Maybe after awhile in China, I'll stop knowing what you guys are going to say before you say it?

I won't be there to do it (but Ian will, right?) so I'll say it now: LISTEN TO SON! Remember that by talking when he's trying to tell you something, you're not being very respectful and we love Son, don't we? Be good for your Bible study leaders. But most importantly, GROW in your love and understanding of God. I love you and want the best for you. But if I write anymore, it'll turn into an epistle. So I'll shush.

Your sister in Christ,
Von

p.s. PHOTOS! Seb, I want photos of everything. Once I get my camera, I'll take photos too and post the good ones on my blog, k? Also, blogger's banned in China too, so I'll send Dot stuff to post.
